The 2022-23 school year is off to a great start. The first day of school marked the return of 48,000 students and the opening of three new prek-8s, a new middle school and a renovated Jefferson/Silva High School.

First day highlights included a Khalid Foundation Backpack Giveaway at Ross Middle School, and the opening of four new Bond 2016 campuses and an updated Jefferson/Silva High School. The 2016 Bond consolidated eight schools into the following four new campuses.

• Bobby Joe Hill PK-8, a consolidation of Collins Elementary School and Terrace Hills Middle School, posthumously honors the famed Texas Western College (now UTEP) basketball standout who led the Miners to the 1966 NCCA champions. The Bobby Joe Hill Hawks are part of the Andress High School feeder pattern. Bobby Joe Hill is located at 4860 Tropicana.
