As the regular season has concluded at the El Paso Motorplex, the track will be hosting an Import-only event this Saturday.
According to Race Director Ben de la Vega, this move toward import racing is important, not just for the drivers but for the drag strip as well.
“We cater to American Muscle all year, but we have been inadvertently ignoring a very large demographic of amateur racer, between the ages of 18-35 who own import vehicles, which is the majority here in the El Paso, Las Cruces and Juarez area, De la Vega stated, “this will give the El Paso Motorplex a completely new and untapped customer base of both racers and spectators, thus doubling Motorplex annual revenue which is definitely needed.”
The complex is located in far-East El Paso County, at the Clint exit (Exit 42) on the north side of the freeway.
The facility not only features a newly-improved, all concrete 1/8 and 1/4 mile drag strip, but a very popular sand drag strip as well.
The Import-only drags are scheduled for Saturday, November 14th at 10am.
