El Paso Municipal Court Announces Amnesty Period for Citations

The City of El Paso Municipal Court Amnesty Period for citations begins today and will be available through Saturday, March 5, 2016.

The amnesty period gives people a chance to pay delinquent tickets while taking advantage of savings and avoiding arrest. During the two-week period, the 30 percent collection fee on all warrants; delinquency and collection fees on parking citations will be waived. The addition of the $50 warrant fee will also be waived.

After the amnesty period ends, the El Paso Police Department will conduct a warrant roundup. The last time Municipal Court held an amnesty period was in February 2013.

WHAT IS THE AMNESTY PROGRAM?

The Amnesty program affords people the opportunity to pay delinquent tickets while taking advantage of a savings. During the 2 week period, the 30% collection fee on all warrants; delinquency and collection fees on parking citations will be waived. The addition of the $50 warrant fee will also be waived.

After the amnesty period the El Paso Police Department will be conducting a warrant roundup.

NOTE: All warrants will remain active until paid in full.

WHEN IS AMNESTY BEING HELD?

Amnesty will run from Monday, February 22 through Saturday, March 5. All locations will be open

8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday (downtown 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). All locations will be open

Saturday, February 27 and March 5, 2016 from 8 a.m. to Noon.

IF I COME TO COURT TO PAY, WILL I BE ARRESTED?

It is not the City’s policy to arrest people who visit the courthouse to inquire about delinquent cases. Everyone is encouraged to come in voluntarily to resolve their cases.
