El Paso Municipal Courts to celebrate Municipal Courts Week

The City of El Paso Municipal Courts is celebrating Municipal Courts week from November 4 through November 8 with a variety of events during the week. 

Municipal Courts Week is a week proclaimed by the 86th Texas Legislature in House Resolution 1658 dedicated to appreciating the contributions that municipal courts make in the community. The week recognizes the hard work, dedication and the important role of municipal judges, court clerks, court administrators, bailiffs, and warrant officers in the criminal justice system and the community.

In addition to enforcing laws and ordinances, the City of El Paso Municipal Courts provides a variety of community services, including visiting schools and educating children about underage drinking, traffic safety and illegal drugs.

The Municipal Court also has a Teen Court Program that educates teenagers about the justice system, community service and life skills.

The City of El Paso Municipal Court is a court of record which handles Class C misdemeanors and civil parking citations issued within the city limits. The Municipal Court of Appeals hears appeals filed from the Municipal Courts.

The following events will take place during Municipal Court Week:

Monday, November 4

Free traffic safety materials/information

8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 9600 Dyer

7 a.m. to 6 pm, 810 E. Overland

Tuesday, November 5

Free VIN Etching by the El Paso Police Department

3 p.m. to 5 p.m., 810 E. Overland


Youth Delinquency Prevention Classes

(Misdemeanors & Consequences)

5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., 810 E. Overland

Wednesday, November 6

Youth Delinquency Prevention Classes (Drug and Alcohol)

5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., 810 E. Overland.

Thursday, November 7

Youth Delinquency Prevention Classes

(Traffic Safety and Distracted Driving)

5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., 810 E. Overland.

Friday, November 8

Child Car Seat Inspection

Noon to 2 p.m., 9600 Dyer.
