On Wednesday, December 12, the Museum of History will host the All of Us Research Program Mobile Exhibit from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“The Museum of History is very pleased to host the All of Us Research Mobile Exhibit,” said Museum of History Director Dr. Vladimir VonTsurikov. “It is a great opportunity to support this important endeavor, which will provide crucial research and wellness data to the National Institute of Health’s initiative, while allowing participants to learn more about their own individual health.”
Led by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), All of Us is an effort to gather genetic, biological, environmental, health and lifestyle information from 1 million people living in the United States.
“All of us are unique, but today we live mostly in an era of ‘one-size-fits-all’ medicine,” said All of Us Research Program Director Eric Dishman. “I’m alive today because of precision medicine and I think everyone deserves that same opportunity no matter the color of your skin, your economic status, your age or your sex or gender. In other words, it will truly take all of us.”
The mission is to ask people to share health information that researchers can use to conduct thousands of health studies and potentially speed up health research breakthroughs.
All of Us seeks to transform the relationship between researchers and participants, bringing them together as partners to inform the program’s directions, goals and responsible return of research information. These efforts include building trust among populations historically underrepresented in research.
Participants will be able to access their own health information, summary data about the entire participant community and information about studies and findings that come from All of Us.
In addition to bringing the All of Us Research Program Mobile Exhibit to the Museum of History, the traveling exhibit will be visiting additional locations in the greater El Paso area.
