El Paso Pro-Musica Chamber Music Festival returns for 2020

El Paso Pro-Musica’s Chamber Music Festival 2020 is set to begin January 9 through February 1.

During the month-long festival, the music selections will swing from Jazz Piano to Zuill Bailey performing in the Annual Collaboration Concert with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra; a Beethoven Birthday Bash to Latin American Sounds from the Catalyst String Quartet and the Dean of American Cellists and Zuill Bailey’s Idol, Lynn Harrell.

“Community outreach and engagement will highlight the Festival, including presentations in Schools and Hospitals throughout the region, coffee shops, and unexpected Pop-Ups with World Renowned Artists,” EPPM officials shared.”

The First featured Pop-Up is set for Thursday, January 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Savage Goods featuring Artistic Director Zuill Bailey.

“Bach’s Lunch,” the Free Concert, held each Thursday at Noon at the El Paso Museum of Art and sponsored by United Bank of El Paso del Norte, will Kick off the Festival with renowned Jazz Pianist Matt Herskowitz on Thursday, January 9.

Concerts in El Paso with the acclaimed Jazz Artist will be held on January 10 and 12 at UTEP’s Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall.

Week Two will feature the 15th annual Collaboration with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra featuring Artistic Director and Grammy Award Winner, Zuill Bailey.

The Concerts are set for January 17 and 18 at the Plaza Theater at 7:30 p.m. Zuill and Pianist/ Conductor Eduard Zilberkant, will celebrate the 250th Birthday of Beethoven on Sunday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m. at UTEP’s Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall.

Week Three features the Catalyst String Quartet, and their “Southern Hemisphere Concert.” They will perform music by the finest Latin American Composers. The Quartet represents the Sphinx Organization, that works to promote diversity in Classical Music.

The mission of the Catalyst String Quartet is to break down the walls of classical music to make music accessible to all.

The Final Week will feature the Dean of American Cellists, Lynn Harrell, a Grammy Award Winner, who has won Grammy’s alongside famed violinist Itzhak Perlman, who will perform in El Paso on March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Plaza Theater.

Harrell performs on Saturday, February 1, 2020. “Lynn Harrell has always been my hero. I listened to every one of his recordings, and was always so mesmerized by his sound. It is an honor for me to present him in El Paso.”

The Chamber Music Festival will also include performances in Las Cruces, featuring Jazz Pianist Matt Herskowitz, the Catalyst String Quartet and Zuill Bailey, in a Special Performance celebrating Las Cruces on Tuesday, January 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Double Eagle.
