El Paso Pro-Musica’s Young Artist Development Series Residency, in conjunction with Johns Hopkins University and the Peabody School of Music, presents “Trio Jinx. “
“Trio Jinx ” will perform during a very special week of musical events around the city, culminating in a special Family Concert on Saturday, April 8, at 5:00 p.m.
“Trio Jinx,” is made up of Graduate students from the Peabody School of Music, Louna Dekker Vargas, flute, Ledah Fink, violin/viola and Yoshiaki Horiguchi, Double Bass. Ledah is from the Blue Ridge Mountains who trained as a classical violinist in a folk-inspired world. Flutist Louna, split her childhood between a small French country village in Montfort-L’ Amaury to fast paced New York City.
Double bassist Yoshi was born in Tokyo, with a backround in Physics. Together, they are creating new sounds, energies and hope to find success in the classical, contemporary and folk worlds. They were specially selected for their innovative style by El Paso Pro-Musica Artistic Director Zuill Bailey.
The Young Artist Development Series is a project that provides a curriculum with tools for communication and the business of music. Specially selected students spend a week in the region and work with Zuill Bailey to develop their careers in music in the 21st century/
Their residency will include appearances at Senior Centers, working with Schools throughout the City, UTEP Department of Music Master Classes and special impromptu “Pop Up” Concerts including an appearance for the Downtown Lions Club on Friday, April 6 at Noon at the El Paso Club, Hillside Coffee House on Friday, April 7 at 9:00 a.m. and the Starbucks on Mesa and Kerbey on Saturday, April 8 at 9:00 a.m.
The week will also celebrate the Grammy Win by renowned cellist Zuill Bailey. He will receive a proclamation from the City and perform at City Council on Tuesday, April 4 at 8:00 a.m. He will also be toasted at a Special Pop Up Concert and Champagne Toast at the El Paso Museum of Art at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6. “Trio Jinx,” will perform at the El Paso Museum of Art for the celebration.
