El Paso Public Library Opens Poetry Contest for Students

The El Paso Public Library is now accepting entries for its annual Youth Poetry Contest open to area students.

The 27th annual contest requires students from 1st to 12th grade to submit original poems that will be judged separately in each grade level and language. The poems will be judged on originality, creativity, clarity, and spelling.

Three winners from each grade level will be selected, along with two honorable mentions from each library branch. Winners and honorable mentions will be invited to an awards ceremony with an opportunity to read their poems to an audience.

All selected poems will be published in an official poetry contest booklet.

The deadline for entries is Saturday, April 22. For more information, including rules, visit the El Paso Public Library website.
