Over 40 years of rugby history and tradition continue this weekend as the El Paso Scorpions celebrate the start of their 2017-18 season.
The Scorpions take on the Santa Fe Santos to kick off the 15’s rugby season at Thorn Park (5300 Mace Street) in the city’s Upper Valley. Gametime is set for 2 p.m.
Officials with the team remind fans that “the games are free, and they can bring your chairs, coolers and anything else you want and enjoy some great rugby…the Scorpions would really appreciate all the support as we look to kick off another excellent year!”
Via their facebook page, the Scorpions promise “80 minutes of no timeouts, no pads, just fast paced, hard hitting, grown-man sport action!”
Earlier this month, the Scorpions had tune-up matches vs Las Cruces, Abq and Santa Fe, setting the stage for Game 1 of the 2017- 18 season.
The El Paso Scorpions are part of the El Paso Youth Rugby Foundation (EPYRF) which is a Non-Profit Organization. The Scorpions RFC has had a legacy of being a dominate team in the Rio Grande Union, and hope to repeat their performance this year.
