El Paso Sheriff’s Office PSA – Lock it or Lose it

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to lock your vehicle, trunk,  or tailgate and to take the keys with you.

Close all windows and remove or secure and hide cellphones, stereos, valuables,  wallets, purses, and packages. No matter what kind of car you drive, all vehicles are a potential target of theft. Nearly  60,000 cars and trucks are stolen in Texas each year, thousands more are burglarized. Almost half of all stolen vehicles had  the keys left inside.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is concerned for the safety and security of your personal belongings. Vehicle burglaries  are very common, yet very easy to prevent. These crimes are happening, especially if your car is parked outside at night. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office values the trust you have in us, and we will honestly and ethically carry out our  responsibilities. We work Hand-In-Hand with our community and seek your assistance and cooperation in keeping our  community safe.
