El Paso Zoo Announces Free Wi-Fi

The El Paso Zoo is pleased to announce it now offers free Wireless Internet access courtesy of the City of El Paso.

Zoo guests can now access free internet from their personal devices by simply connecting to Digital El Paso from their wireless network menu on their smart phone or other mobile devices. The City of El Paso Department of Information Technology Services deployed access points throughout the Zoo to ensure visitors stay connected while they visit.

“We’re excited to provide another amenity for guests to be able to enjoy while at the Zoo,” said Zoo DirectorSteve Marshall. “Wi-Fi access allows families and students to integrate technology into their Zoo visit and take  advantage of our online resources like animal information pages, the interactive map and our event calendar.”

Officials add, “This expansion promotes El Paso’s goal of becoming a truly digital city.”

Residents and visitors can now access the internet, retrieve email, or surf the web with no impact to their data plan. No special settings, usernames or passwords are required to use the service.

Please note connection speed will vary between 500 kilobytes to approximately 2 megabytes, depending on the number of devices that are connected and the type of content that is being uploaded and downloaded.

Guest web access is not monitored. Users are strongly discouraged from transmitting personal, financial or legal data over the public network.

Likewise, students using El Paso Independent School District devices will be routed through their school internet browsing systems.
