The El Paso International Music Foundation invites borderland residents to jingle all the way with a simultaneous, outdoor performance of Jingle Bells at 5:30 p.m. Monday, December 21.
“You don’t have to be a good singer, or jingle bells player, for that matter, to join the fun,” local organizers shared. “EPIMF wants everyone to step outside on your porch, patio or yard, and get into the holiday spirit for the community-wide performance, part of the winter solstice edition of Make Music Day Winter, a free, worldwide celebration of music.”
Participants are encouraged to film their performances, tag EPIMF, and hashtag #MakeMusicElPaso. EPIMF will share them on its Make Music El Paso Facebook page
EPIMF will respond and set up a pickup time at KISS FM/Townsquare Media, located at 4180 North Mesa.
Prior to the outdoor performance, EPIMF will post performances by students and professional artists on its Facebook page at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Performers include the El Paso High, Wiggs Middle and Lamar Elementary choirs, plus Bella Duke, Michael and Santiago Portillo, and Jason McInnes’ harmonica class.
Additionally, how-to videos will be posted on egg shaker making, marimba bowl making and how to use available bells. Jingle Bells music sheets for various instruments also will be posted.
The El Paso International Music Foundation, an affiliate of the El Paso Community Foundation, is a regional organization devoted to empowering musicians through business education, health assistance, community awareness and outreach.
