EP Med Corps in search of healthcare volunteers to help during COVID-19 surge
The newly formed EP MedCorps has put out a call to all El Paso healthcare workers to help with the current surge of COVID-19 cases.
EPMC was established earlier this year in order to recruit healthcare volunteers in the event of a crisis. Thursday afternoon, officials said nurses, physicians and non-clinicians are encouraged to volunteer as soon as possible
“As cases of COVID-19 continue to increase in El Paso County, EP MedCorps encourages nurses, physicians and non-clinicians of all specialties and backgrounds to volunteer,” Corps officials shared. “Nurses, the El Paso healthcare community needs your help now more than ever.”
A volunteer force of dedicated professionals who stand ready to support regional healthcare facilities in the event of overflow in the region, EP MedCorps volunteers will likely be deployed to help care for low acuity, non-COVID-19 patients.
Those with specialized skills may be asked if they would like to care for COVID-19 patients.
Anyone who is interested in becoming an EP MedCorps volunteer is encouraged to sign up, including clinicians and non-clinicians of all specialties and backgrounds.
Volunteers will be screened by the community entity requesting support and should expect a response from the entity should their skills and schedule be a good match. The community entity will provide any training and equipment necessary.
There may be paid and unpaid volunteer opportunities. Details will be provided by the entities coordinating the crisis response.
Those interested in volunteering can call 915-242-0676 or emailing epmedcorps@phixnetwork.org.
