EPCC celebrates 20th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month

The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Hispanic Heritage Committee will host a series of events for the 20th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.

This year’s theme is Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope.

“The Diversity and Inclusion Programs Office strives to foster and promote cultural awareness and respect among employees, our students, and the surrounding El Paso community,” organizers share. “Our target is to educate and disseminate information that highlights and celebrates the numerous cultures which construct and impact our world.”

The Virtual Kick-off for the month-long celebration will be on September 23rd at noon. On October 14th at noon, the Annual Virtual Mentor’s Recognition will honor influential members of the El Paso community.

The winners for the 7th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Scholarship will be announced.

This year’s celebration will include an online Read-In inviting the public and students to read a poem or short story about this year’s theme. The Read-In will take place on October 6th from 10:00 am to noon. A Virtual Art Exhibit will be held from September 23rd to October 14th. EPCC students, staff and the public can submit their artwork via this link.

The deadline for artwork entries is September 18th.
