El Paso Community College officials announced that their Financial Operations Department has been honored once again.
In a news release, officials said, “Under the coordination and financial expertise of the Vice President of Financial and Administrative Operations, Josette Shaughnessy, CPA and the District have received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the 19th straight year.”
This Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is judged by GFOA to adhere to program standards and represent the highest award in government financial reporting. The CAFR starts with the Annual Financial Report compiled at the end of the annual external audit in compliance with accounting requirements promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
The CAFR highlights not only the college financial results but also its achievements in every area of the District such as any new initiatives related to Student learning and success, technology and the various services provided to the community.
