EPCC Professor Awarded for “Digging” His Job

El Paso Community College (EPCC) would like to congratulate Josh Villalobos, Associate Professor of Geological Sciences. Mr. Villalobos was awarded the Donald and Carolyn Biggs Award for innovative and effective Earth Science teaching among early career faculty.

The award is given by the Geoscience Education Division of the Geological Society of America (GSA).

Villalobos was nominated by his students. Some student statements include, “His infectious enthusiasm for field geology and serious scientific inquiry was highly stimulating to my peers” and “he single handedly inspired me to become the most applied student I could be and to work my hardest at whatever I choose for myself.”

The award will be presented at the GSA Annual Meeting November 3rd in Denver, Colorado.
