El Paso Community College (EPCC) is hosting an event known as Reflections on Friday December 2, 2016 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the EPCC Historic Little Temple of the Rio Grande Campus at 101 W. Rio Grande Ave.
Reflections is presented in partnership with the Sunridge Senior Living Centers.
Life stories of Alzheimer’s seniors are captured and presented by EPCC students participating in the Service Learning Program.
“Reflections has been a great experience because we have seen the growth of the students from participating in the initial training to presenting their final narratives, their interviewing, research, writing and communication skills are notably improved at the end of the project,” says Librarian and Assistant Professor, Lorely Ambriz. “Moreover, they also learn about Alzheimer’s and help create awareness about it.”
Past students have had the opportunity to present to the El Paso County Judge and Commissioners, the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the local media.
