EPCC Women’s Cross Country Team Tops In New Mexico Meet

El Paso Community College (EPCC) Women’s Cross country team finished first at the New Mexico Junior College Invitational in Hobbs, New Mexico. The men’s team took second place at the meet.

This accomplishment comes on the heels of the national ranking of both teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Poll; the women placed second and the men fourth in the ranking.

Individually at the NMJC Invitational, EPCC’s Everlyn Kemboi won the race with a time for the 5K of 14:43. This was the second fastest time in the history of the race.

Leading the men was Dennis Kiptoo who finished second with a t time of 21:40 for the 7K men’s race.

EPCC’s next race will be on October 19 at the UCR Highlander Invitational in Riverside California.
