EPCC XC strong start continues: Men’s, Women’s Cross Country teams win in San Antonio

El Paso Community College (EPCC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams won at the Saints Collegiate Cross Country Invitational hosted by Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.

The Tejanos were led by Gideon Cheplak who finished 1st in the 8K race with a time of 25.07. EPCC men took the first four positions.

The Tejanas were led by reigning National Champion, Everlyn Kemboi who finished 1st in the 6K race with a time of 21.36. The women took the first three positions. EPCC was one of only two community colleges competing at this meet.

The Women are currently ranked 2nd in the nation and the Men are ranked 4th.

Next up for the Cross Country Team is the New Mexico Junior College invitational on September 27. This season will lead up to EPCC hosting the 2019 NJCAA Half Marathon Championship on November 23rd as the finale of its year-long 50th anniversary celebration.
