EPCC’s Canstruction Project needs Canned Food Donations

The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Architecture Society has been asked to join the El Paso Canstruction Contest happening from Saturday September 24 through October 28 at Sunland Park Mall, located at 750 Sunland Park Dr. The event will be open to the public.

Canstruction is a non-profit organization that hosts competitions and exhibitions of giant structures that are entirely made out of can goods. The organization’s goal is to fight hunger; at the end of the viewing the structures will then be torn down and the cans of food will be donated to local food banks.

The EPCC Architecture Society is asking for canned food donations in order to make this competition possible.

The specific donations that the group will need by September 16 will be:

720 Homestyle Creamy Chicken Alfredo cans

474 Garden Delight Spaghetti boxes

3,896 Hunt’s Tomato Sauce cans

26 Boli Pizza Crust (or similar)

338 American Beauty Lasagna boxes

368 Great Value Black Olive cans

These items can be turned into building A Studio A1518 at the Valle Verde campus.

The Architecture Society is a club at EPCC whose goal is to cultivate and maintain interest in Architecture along with developing a spirit of collegiality among persons interested in Architecture at EPCC.
