(EPCC) Men’s and Women’s Teams Have Spectacular Showing as Nyathi and Adams Biwott are named All American and West Region Athletes of the Year
El Paso Community College (EPCC) runner, Faith Nyathi finished first in the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championships held in Richmond, Virginia. Nyathi finished the 5K race in a time of 17:08, 35 seconds in front of the field in gaining the Women’s National Championship.
The Tejanas, led by Faith Nyathi, finished in 3rd place overall. Teammate Jayleen Guerrero finished in 17th place with a time of 19:08. The Women’s Team Champion was The College of Southern Idaho. Faith also garnered All-American honors as well as being named the Division 1, West Region Athlete of the Year.
The Tejanos finished in 6th place overall. The Tejanos were led by Adams Biwott who finished 8th place with a time of 24:27 in the 8K race. Teammate Kelvin Chiku finished in 28th place. The Men’s National Champion was Iowa Central Community College. Adams was awarded All- American honors as well as being named the West Region Athlete of the Year.
Next up for EPCC is the NJCAA Division 1 Half Marathon National Championships. They will also be held Richmond on November 16.
