EPCSO Deputies Complete Child Passenger Safety Tech Courses

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office gains two additional deputies certified as a child passenger safety technicians.

With the completion of the course the Sheriff’s Office Community Service Section now has the section sergeant and six deputies certified as child passenger safety technicians.

The certification will provide the section with the additional knowledge to educate and provide hands-on assistance to the community on the proper use of child car seats and safety belts.

Deputies can now determine if a car seat is installed properly and safely in the vehicle they can also determine if the car seat is in good condition.

Deputies will also be able to identify if the car seat used is the proper one for the child based on age, weight and height guidelines.

Correctly installed child safety seats save lives; as the National Highway Safety Administration estimates that roughly three out of four car seats are not properly installed.
