El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies arrest Vinton man; Allegedly fired shotgun in back yard

A Vinton man is in custody after El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) Deputies received word of a man allegedly firing a shotgun toward neighboring properties, from his back yard.

According to EPCSO officials, on September 28, 2021, approximately 1:00 pm,  Deputies from the Northwest Patrol Station were sent to the block of 7800 Kiely Road regarding alleged deadly conduct in progress.

Witnesses told the Sheriff’s Office that their neighbor was “recklessly discharging a shotgun from his backyard towards a residential area.”

Deputies, along with Northwest Criminal Investigations Division Detectives, Justice of the Peace 1, and Justice of the Peace 7 Constables arrived to find out the subject was allegedly trying to get rid of the shotgun and casings.

Officials say the items were found in the desert area, and 29-year-old Chandler Arteaga was subsequently found and taken into custody for Deadly Conduct without incident.
