The United States Marshals Service (USMS) completed its annual inspection of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facilities.
The inspection conducted by the USMS enables the Districts and Prisoner Operations Division to identify problem areas early as well as identifying the various services each facility provides.
Sheriff Richard Wiles said, “The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is committed to provide quality service in partnership with other members of the community. Representatives of the United States Marshal’s Service conducted their yearly inspection of both Detention Facilities and found them to be in compliance with current industry standards regarding the safety and care of Federal Inmates. We are proud of our excellent compliance history, which would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Detention Bureau.”
The United States Marshals Service conducts annual inspections of all active Intergovernmental Agreement facilities that house federal inmates. The inspection of both facilities verified that all facility equipment in inmate occupied areas is safe and operational.
Following this inspection, both facilities were found to be in compliance with the USMS Detention Facility Inspection standards.
This is the second inspection that is conducted on the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facilities within the last 60 days. The previous inspection was conducted by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards in early May.
