EPISD Inviting Residents to Vote on 2019-2020 Calendar

Officials with El Paso ISD are inviting community members who live within district boundaries to vote on the 2019-20 Academic Calendar.

Officials point out that the dates on the calendar, which must be approved by the Board of Trustees, is aligned with the University of Texas at El Paso, El Paso Community College, Fort Bliss and the Ysleta Independent School District.

Students, parents and employees are asked to pick between two calendars that give them options on the times allotted for parent-teacher conferences in the fall and spring semesters.

One option has the conferences scheduled after school lets out and doesn’t interfere with instructional time; while the other option would continue the District’s practice of releasing students half day to allow for early afternoon conferences.

Some key dates on the calendar include:

  • First day of school: Monday, Aug. 12, 2019.
  • Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 25-29 ,2019.
  • Winter Break: Dec. 23, 2019 to Jan. 3, 2020.
  • Spring Break: March 16-20, 2020.
  • Last day of school: May 22, 2020.

To view the calendar and cast a vote, click here.  Online voting is now open and runs through 5 p.m. on Friday, November 2.
