On Friday, the El Paso Police Department released information regarding the arrest of a Del Sol Hospital warehouse manager for allegedly stealing the much sought after N-95 masks last Saturday.
According to a release from the EPPD, 57 –year old Eduardo Salas was arrested on April 4th, Saturday after he was caught placing boxes of N-95 masks into the trunk of his car.
“An EPPD officer working extra-duty at the Del Sol Hospital warehouse saw the warehouse manager placing boxes into his own vehicle,” the release states. “The officer was informed that the manager did not have consent to take the masks.”
Salas was placed under arrest, charged with theft for the two boxes containing 100, N-95 masks and was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
Officials with Del Sol Hospital released the following statement
“On Saturday, April 4, a contract worker at our Del Sol Medical Center warehouse attempted to unlawfully take boxes of N-95 masks. His actions were caught by our security cameras and intercepted by an El Paso Police Department officer.
We’re proud of the swift response by this officer and our supply chain leadership. We appreciate the partnership with EPPD to protect the limited supply of these masks so we can keep our healthcare workers who are on the frontline of this pandemic and our patients safe. We are fully cooperating with EPPD in their investigation.”
