EPWater: Summer sandbag distribution hours extended until further notice

Due to continued rain events, El Paso Water officials announced Monday the extension of the hours of operation at all three sandbag distribution sites until further notice.

Residential customers can pick up sandbags for flood control any day of the week. The summer distribution sites are open in three areas of El Paso, including the centrally located Stormwater Operations Center, which is also open throughout the year. The distribution locations are within five miles of most utility residential customers.

As always, this service is provided on a first come, first serve basis. If sandbag supplies run out at the West and East/Lower Valley sites, customers will be directed to the Stormwater Operations Center located at 4801 Fred Wilson.

EPWater encourages residential customers who live in areas prone to flooding to have sandbags on hand before most heavy rains begin. The limit is 10 bags per visit.

Utility officials add that residential customers will need to show a Texas ID or an El Paso Water bill to get sandbags.

El Paso Water does not charge for sandbags. Persons who cannot lift heavy items should be accompanied by someone who can assist with loading and unloading of the bags.

The hours of operation can also be found our website.
