ESD’s new service: Free reusable household products at Collection Stations

The City of El Paso Environmental Services Department (ESD) has recently added a new service at its four Citizen Collection Stations that will allow customers to pick up free reusable household products.

The Reusable Household Product Program collects products that are brought to the Citizen Collection Stations in their original containers and are in good, usable condition. These household products are sorted and then made available to any collection station customer who would like to reuse them.

The purpose of the program is to use up products as intended in order to reduce the amount of household hazardous waste that has to be specially disposed of throughout the year.

The household products are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and vary by location. There is a limit of ten products per customer. An I.D. and signature is required for anyone picking up household products.

Reusable Household Products:

  • Carpet Cleaner
  • Oven Cleaner
  • Fertilizer
  • Furniture Polish
  • Wood Preservative
  •   Wood Stain
  • Paint Thinner
  • Car Wax
  • Brake Fluid
  • Antifreeze
  • Adhesives (Glue, putty, caulk)

The Citizen Collection Stations are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and are conveniently located throughout the City. Other services provided at the collection stations include: e-waste disposal, paint reuse program (free paint), free mulch, and the neighborhood tool shed.
