Moms Organize to Raise Money for ‘Moms on Board’ Fund

This Sunday, Moms on Board will be hosting a Holiday Market & Fundraiser to support their efforts to make El Paso a more family-friendly environment.

Moms on Board (MOB), with some help from the Paso Del Norte Charitable Foundation, established the fund in order to “work together for the advocating of accommodations that cater to families and to promoting family-friendly environments at businesses and facilities in the El Paso region.”

“We started a group on Facebook of like-minded parents (mostly Moms) and it quickly grew to over 3,000 members. Our group is motivated to build on and enhance local efforts so that El Paso’s families have more things to do and places to visit on a consistent basis,” explains founder, Adrianne Moody.

MOB is also engages civic leaders, businesses and various stakeholders to encourage family activities and inclusion of special features in venues that make for healthy family interaction.

Recently, Mrs. Moody was appointed to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, by Mayor Dee Margo.

“Our first effort was to request that the city provide more shade at our spray parks and that led to the allocation of $1.2 million towards shade and other family-friendly amenities at the spray parks,” Moody says.

“This is just the beginning,” adds Leyla Zeidan, co-founder of the group. “We are looking forward to a continued dialogue with city leadership and local businesses to build and expand on this early success.”

The event, scheduled for December 3rd from 12pm-5pm, will be held at EPIC Railyard, 2201 East Mills.

Organizers say the event will feature a variety of vendors, a food court and kiddie corner. Kiddie corner will include a kid library with story time, music instruments to play, free one image with Santa, a fire truck and many more kid-friendly events.

For more information, contact Adrianne Moody at 915-920-7200 or via email at momsonboardunite@gmail.com
