Officials with Fabens ISD announced Thursday that the district will be providing school supplies, as well as meals, to all students at no charge for the upcoming school year.
“We are a “1-to-1 device” district which means that we have Chromebooks to assign to all students,” Fabens ISD officials shared. “We will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students, and we are exploring the possibility of adding dinner service very soon, beginning with secondary campuses.”
Teachers will distribute packages during the first few weeks of school.
District officials also reminded families that remote learning options will no longer be available for the 2021-2022 school year based on decisions made at the state level at the most recent Texas Legislative Session. They add that Fabens ISD has “worked diligently to receive students back for 100% face-to-face instruction.”
As for district-wide guidelines and preparations, officials say they’ve been busy preparing for the student’s return.
“Fabens ISD will continue to implement all appropriate safety protocols and practices for the 2021-2022 school year. Our campuses and facilities will be frequently cleaned and disinfected as recommended by CDC guidelines. Hand sanitizer will be available in all
classrooms and common areas. Desk dividers will also be made available upon request,” officials stated via a news release.
Students, staff, and teachers will have the option to wear face masks, social distancing will be encouraged, and the spacing of desks will be maximized to the extent possible.
Officials added. “COVID-19 rapid testing and contact tracing will continue to take place as needed. We will continually monitor CDC guidelines and updated mandates from the Governor’s office to abide by all regulations.”
