District employees put on their artist smocks and let their imaginations run wild for the 2016 EPISD Faculty and Staff Art show with more than 120 entries displayed at the International Museum of Art in El Paso.
The main purpose of this exhibit is to show off the talent in our district, and not just that of our art teachers,” said Rosa Aguilar, EPISD Fine Arts facilitator. “There are so many talented people in our district, from our custodial staff to our paraprofessionals and general ed teachers.”
The exhibit was populated with all types of art, from photographs and paintings to sculptures and pottery pieces.
There was even one multimedia piece by Franklin High School teacher Juan Galceran, which featured a 19-foot-long canvas painting with a 16-mm film playing over it.
This is the first year the district hosts an art exhibit solely for employees. Last year some employees were able to display as part of a student art show. The EPISD Fine Arts department hopes to make the employee exhibit an annual event.
“We always highlight our students so this is a great opportunity for us to celebrate our employees,” Aguilar said.
The exhibit will be on display at the museum until the end of February.
