First Socorro ISD Parent to Register Online: “Process is Awesome”

Team SISD continues to offer the latest digital tools to make school operations easier and more convenient for students and parents, and has kicked off its new online registration with a great start.

In just 24 hours, five percent of the district enrollment (2,528) has been completed using the new program.

“We were pleasantly surprised the number is that high after only day two,” said Hilda Miranda, student systems coordinator for SISD’s Department of Technology Information Services. “It’s been great.”

The first parent to try out online registration was Daisy Sanchez, who registered her daughter Fernanda Ortiz. The student will be entering second grade at John Drugan School during the 2016-17 school year.

“It’s awesome,” Sanchez said. “No more waiting in line and filling out all that paperwork. It used to take me more than an hour. With online registration, I was done in five minutes. It really makes everything a lot easier.”

Sanchez also registered her son, Keven Zeijas, an eighth grader also at Drugan, online.

“I thought there would be problems with the website because so many people would be on, but it ran so smooth. There were no issues. I don’t think I would ever go back to registering the old way,” she said.

Any parent who currently has an SISD student returning for the 2016-17 school year can register them online. All that is needed is a valid email address and a Parent Portal account (which can be created at your student’s campus) to complete the process.

Registering online is not only easier, it also allows parents to verify student data, update contact information, complete yearly required registration forms, acknowledge/review critical district information and policies.
