On Friday, officials with FirstLight Federal Credit Union unveiled their new virtual branch at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso), inside the Medical Sciences Building II (MSB II), which houses the Hunt School of Dental Medicine.
“We’re fortunate to partner with TTUHSC El Paso and excited to open our new virtual office,” said President and CEO of FirstLight Federal Credit Union, Mr. Karl Murphy. “With the latest technology, we will be able to serve the students, faculty, administrators, and TTUHSC El Paso team members.”
Officials share that the branch will feature the latest technology in financial and credit union service, including an Interactive Video Teller (IVT) system and two offices for private, live video banking.
An IVT uses a combination of touch screens and video technology to offer a virtual version of the in-person banking experience – an ATM with live video chat.
Members can use IVT teller service with extended hours and real-time transactions, including:
- Make Cash and Check Deposits
- Withdrawals and Transfers
- Cash Checks
- Make Loan Payments
Earlier this year, FirstLight Federal Credit Union gifted $80,000 to TTUHSC El Paso to support programs and scholarships over the next five years.
Of the funds, $50,000 will be allocated to support annual $2,500 scholarships; $25,000 is earmarked for Medventure For Your Future, an annual middle-school STEM conference held at TTUHSC El Paso; and $5,000 will be provided to the Red Raider Food Pantry, a campus-run food pantry which aims to reduce hunger and food insecurity among students.
The FirstLight Federal Credit Union virtual branch is physically located at 5001 El Paso Drive.
