DALLAS – Conference USA announced its All-Conference selections as UTEP track and field’s Sean Bailey (400m), Chantoba Bright (long jump), Maribel Caicedo (60m hurdles), Carolyne Chepkosgei (800m), Karol Koncos (weight throw) and the men’s 4x400m relay team were named first team All-C-USA on Tuesday.
Bailey ran a personal-best 46.42 in the men’s 400m, claiming gold, while he was part of the men’s 4x400m relay team that also took gold. Bailey was also named second team all-conference in the 200m, earning a silver medal with a personal-best 21.37.
Bright won gold after leaping out to a personal-best 6.22m in the women’s long jump. The sophomore was named second team All-C-USA after taking silver in the women’s triple jump after posting a 12.94.
Caicedo raced out to a personal-best 8.26 in the women’s 60m hurdles, winning gold. Koncos also claimed gold in his respective event, tossing 19.35m in the men’s weight throw.
Chepkosgei took gold in the women’s 800m, recording a time of 2:11.95, while also being named to the third team in the women’s mile run (4:48.92).
The men’s 4x400m relay team, composed of James Flournoy, Bailey, Shakeem Smith and Jevaughn Powell took gold, recording a time of 3:12.18.
Smith was also named second team all-conference in the men’s 60m hurdles, clocking in a time of 7.94.
Titus Cheruiyot was named second team in the 5000m (14:08.80), and third team in the 3000m (8:13.28).
