Retired Gen. David L. Goldfein
Retired Gen. David L. Goldfein, former Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force, has joined The University of Texas at El Paso as a professor of practice in the University’s College of Business Administration.
“It is clear from meeting General Goldfein that he truly cares about students and their success,” said James Payne, Ph.D., dean of the College of Business Administration at UTEP.
“His wealth of extraordinary leadership experience, and his ability to share that experience with our students will certainly have a transformative impact. I am excited about General Goldfein joining the faculty in the College of Business Administration as a Professor of Practice, and look forward to working with him.”
The UTEP LaunchPad, established earlier this year, aims to equip students from all colleges and majors with tools and resources to bolster their entrepreneurial skills and help them succeed as founders of companies.
As a member of the UTEP faculty, Goldfein’s role as an advisor to the organization that oversees the national Blackstone LaunchPad network puts the University’s students at an advantage when it comes to connecting with the mentorship opportunities and other resources available through LaunchPad to help them succeed in their entrepreneurial ventures.
Goldfein’s term as the 21st chief of staff ended in August 2020, where he served for four years before retiring in October.
As chief of staff, he was responsible for organizing, training and equipping 685,000 active-duty, guard and reserve forces and civilians serving in the Air Force worldwide.
Goldfein is also a senior advisor to the Blackstone Group, the organization behind the Blacktstone LaunchPad, a national network of more than 10,000 entrepreneurship mentors that every year hosts events in colleges and universities across the country aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
