The Fred Loya Insurance High School Baseball Series kicks off its second season at Southwest University Park on Monday, March 7th as the Chapin Huskies take on the Riverside Rangers at 4 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
The series, which gives local high school baseball athletes the chance to play on a Triple-A baseball field, concludes with Franklin vs. Eastwood on Tuesday, April 26th at 7 p.m.
“We are very pleased and honored to sponsor this fantastic baseball series,” said Fred Loya Sr., Chairman Emeritus of Fred Loya Insurance Agency, Inc. the title sponsor. “This gives the Chihuahuas & Fred Loya Insurance the ability to showcase the outstanding high school baseball talent that we have in this city in the hopes that others will take notice and give these young men the opportunity to further their education and continue playing this great sport.”
“To work with a family and a business like the Loyas that are so generous and supportive of El Paso is a privilege,” said Brad Taylor, general manager of the El Paso Chihuahuas. “We are proud to partner with Fred Loya Insurance to provide this opportunity to high school athletes.”
The games not only give high school athletes the chance to have the big-league experience, but also serve as a fundraiser for each team with a portion of each Chihuahuas ticket sold going back to the participating school.
