Fred Loya and Chihuahuas to Honor High School All-Stars

Fred Loya Insurance and the El Paso Chihuahuas gave high school baseball teams the chance of a lifetime – to play baseball on a Triple-A Minor League Baseball field.

The series, which started in the spring of 2015, completed its second season at Southwest University Park and gives high school athletes the chance to have the big-league experience by playing on a professional stage.

“The baseball series is a great way for our young student-athletes in the El Paso region to showcase their talent,” said Fred Loya Sr., Chairman Emeritus of Fred Loya Insurance Agency, Inc., the title sponsor of the series. We hope to continue building the foundation for all students with the series and show support for these students and the great game of baseball.”

The series also serves as a fundraiser with a portion of each Chihuahuas ticket sold going back to the participating school. Over a two year span, the teams have combined to raise more than $45,000 for their respective schools over a two-year span.

Tonight, during the Chihuahuas vs. Sacramento River Cats (San Francisco Giants) game, the Chihuahuas and Fred Loya Insurance will honor the Fred Loya Insurance Baseball Series All-Stars. These outstanding student-athletes were nominated by each of the opposing team’s coaches based on skill, team work and sportsmanship.

“To work with a family and a business like the Loyas that are so generous and supportive of El Paso is a privilege,” said Brad Taylor, general manager of the El Paso Chihuahuas. “We are proud to partner with Fred Loya Insurance to provide this opportunity to high school athletes.”

Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. A limited number of reserved seats are still available!
