The El Paso area once again played host to a peaceful protest against the death of George Floyd, this one held in Downtown El Paso Tuesday evening.
Hundreds of El Pasoans attended the protest, organized by the Brown Berets Del Chuco, marching from the Aztec Calendar Park, past the El Paso County Courthouse and County Jail, then to City Hall.
Via the invitational flyer, organizers stated that the march was for “Justice for the innocent people who have been killed or been victims of brutality by any law enforcement…Justice for the immigrants and children who have been put in cages and died in custody…Justice for the innocent lives that were killed by white supremacy…Justice for the people who have been victimized by racism.”
Our photographers, Andres Acosta and Johnny Yturales were at the event, and we bring your their views via this gallery.
Earlier in the day, contributor Alex Hinojosa was downtown, after rumors of an unplanned protest made their way around social media. While there were some officers in the area, no early protest was held.
