The Clint Lions came into central El Paso and showed the El Paso Tigers exactly who is the real king of the gridiron jungle.
Clint Coach Rosvel Rodriquez used 8 different running backs and two different quarterbacks to beat El Paso High 61-15.
Offensively Jesus Rocha – my choice for the player of the game – led his team on 5 scoring drives, he also had one interception for a 20 run back on defense.
I was impressed with running back Miguel Villalpando, as this kid showed moves tonight that will take Clint deep into to the playoffs.
On the other side of the ball, it was a tough night for first year head coach Ray Aguilar Jr. El Paso High went 0 – 10 last year and Coach
Aguilar has his work cut out for him.
The Tigers had two big plays and a two-point conversion as the only talley on the night. A bright spot for El Paso High was Ryan Pena, who had over 127 yards tonight.
For El Paso High, second half frustration set in on the players and the coaches, and injuries became a factor as the game progressed.
I do, however, see a glimmer of hope for El Paso High, as Coach Aguilar is building a strong foundation – it will not happen overnight, but the foundation is being built.
