Irvin started out strong Friday night and never quit, en route to a 40 to 0 win over El Paso High.
On each of Irvin’s first 6 possessions, they scored a touchdown. The only let down in the first half for the Rockets was a bad snap for the extra point.
Yeremiah Yhisreal, player of the game, had three runbacks for a total of 84 yards, as well as a 24 yard touch down run. His three run
backs help keep Irvin on El Paso side of the field. Irvin finished with a total of 302 yards of offense.
On the other side of the ball, El Paso High really had a ‘”second” first game. After their first game, they went into quarantine for the
next two weeks.
First year Coach Ray Aguilar, Jr. continues to find out what he has in his arsenal, while working with backup quarterback Gerry Chairez and a still developing offensive line.
The Tigers did complete 5 of 8 passes, but penalties and a weak offensive line limited El Paso High to only 45 yards of offense.
Irvin is now 2 and 0 for the season, while El Paso High drops to 0 and 2. Irvin plays Jefferson next week while El Paso High plays Cathedral.
Keep in mind and watch your favorite team, grades come out next week, and this may change the dynamic of each team.
