Over two and a half decades removed from when the area’s last drive-in dimmed the projector lights and shut down, one El Paso business owner decided it was time to bring back the experience.
The new Blue Moon Drive In, the brainchild of Gary Monteleone, brings the drive in experience back to the Sun City.
With open seating areas resembling classic cars, drive in speakers on poles between each area and the familiar ‘crunch’ of the gravel underfoot as patrons make their way to the fully stocked, cash only snack bar at the back of the property.
Attendees can select their spot, and then enjoy ‘carside’ service from the staff.
While the premiere presentation has been sold out, drive in staff say reservations are being taken for next week’s shows. For upcoming showings and information on how to reserve spots for the next shows are available via the Blue Moon’s Facebook page.
The Blue Moon Drive is locate at 3019 1/2 Gateway West Boulevard, right next to the original Monteleone’s restaurant.
