Gallery+Story: Southwestern Food Styles Collide as Añejo’s Steakhouse set to Open in Horizon City

After nearly three successful years, Nina Piña and her staff are taking the Moonlight Bar and Grill (16000 Ashford at the Horizon Golf Club) and upgrading the menu, the restaurant and its name.

“We’re ready to take this restaurant to the next level,” Piña said during a recent lunchtime interview, “it’s time to bring a new, fresh family-oriented restaurant to our friends and neighbors.”

That fresh look includes a new name –  Añejo’s Steakhouse – a revamped menu, and an upgraded dining experience with a refreshing of the restaurant’s main dining room.

“It’s been a great few years, all of our friends from around El Paso, Horizon and Socorro coming up and supporting our restaurant, but now we felt was a good time to change…with all the other restaurants out there now offering burgers and wings, we decided to make the move and upgrade our focus.” Piña said.

While not divulging the exact new menu,  Piña did say the food would reflect the restaurant’s new direction as a ‘family steakhouse’ and offer meals and desserts not readily available at other high-desert eateries.

“Everyone likes fast food, and there’s a time for that – but what we’re going to offer is a nice family dining experience, with good food prepared quickly and in a great atmosphere…we’re going to be your family’s affordable steakhouse.” Piña added.

Piña and Executive Chef Marco Olivares held a private preview of some of the menu items Tuesday night, for a handful of invited residents.

From the homemade chile-con-queso, to the locally-sourced kale and spinach side, to the beef or fish main dishes, every single bite of each small teaser portion was beyond delicious.

Wednesday will feature a soft opening, by reservation only; to see if there are any tables still available call (915) 852-4136.

The new Añejo’s Steakhouse will officially open to the public – with a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony – on Thursday, March 24th.
