Gallery+Story: TEDxUTEP Hosted on Campus Saturday

Hundreds of students, staff and residents spend the morning at UTEP listening to experts as part of the university’s TedXUTEP talk.

Eleven speakers, including U.S. Representative, Veronica Escobar, former NASA astronaut, Danny Olivas, and Grammy Award-winning cellist Zuill Bailey, spoke at the inaugural TEDxUTEP event the Union Cinema.

Over 400 individuals from across the UTEP registered to attend the event, as each speaker shared their unique perspective on the theme of “access and excellence”—the University’s mission.

The UTEP event is part of a TED-created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
