Gallery+Story: The Great Khalid Foundation celebrates ‘Christmas with Khalid’

On Tuesday, the Great Khalid Foundation finished out the year with its Christmas with Khalid program.

The initiative, normally set in an elementary school, was modified for safety reasons. Operating under strict safety guidelines, representatives from each organization stopped by The Great Khalid Foundation office to pick up their toys.

“Christmas with Khalid is our flagship program and we could not let the pandemic stop us from giving out toys,” said Linda Wolfe, Executive Director of The Great Khalid Foundation. “We had to get creative, but we are keeping the holiday alive for so many kids in El Paso.”

The Great Khalid Foundation selected 6 fellow nonprofits to provide with toys for their program participants. The organizations serve children in the region that have been hardest hit by the pandemic.

Groups that received toys were: El Paso Community Foundation, American Patriots, Ronald McDonald House, Aliviane, Big Brothers Big Sisters, CAFV

“The Great Khalid Foundation would like to thank FirstLight Federal Credit Union and El Paso Inc. for sponsoring this year’s Christmas with Khalid,” organizers added.

The Great Khalid Foundation is Khalid’s namesake non-profit organization founded to advance opportunities in music education and inspire students to thrive academically. It is a labor of love for both Khalid and his mother; to make a donation, click here.
