GECU Foundation to Donate $50k to UTEP Scholarship for College of Business

The GECU Foundation will present the University of Texas at El Paso with a $50,000 scholarship donation on February 7, 2019 at the UTEP vs Florida Atlantic men’s basketball game.

“This scholarship fund is perpetual and brings students closer to a brighter future through funding their education and we are so proud of the students who have received this scholarship. Education is so important to the GECU Foundation and through the R.C. Morgan Scholarship Endowment Fund we are able to give our community the ability to grow in their intellectual pursuits,” said Crystal Long, President and CEO of GECU.

GECU Foundation officials share that the donation will go directly to students in the College of Business.

This scholarship, named in honor of GECU’s first President and CEO, R.C. Morgan, helps students achieve their educational goals through funding for their tuition.

The GECU Foundation, a non-profit organization, raised funds for the scholarship endowment fund through an annual golf tournament where several organizations participate and contribute to the GECU Foundation.

“This scholarship fund would not be possible without all of the people and organizations who support the Foundation. Several students receive this scholarship yearly allowing them to complete their education,” GECU officials shared via a Wednesday afternoon news release.

The GECU Foundation was established in 2008 to provide financial assistance in the form of grants and scholarships to students seeking higher education and to address several development issues in the Borderland.

The R.C. Morgan Scholarship Endowment Fund is named in honor of former GECU President and CEO R.C. Morgan, an international pioneer in the credit union movement and an avid supporter of education.
