“Ghost Stories of El Paso” to be featured at Ascarate Park’s Halloween Drive-In

El Paso County invites the public to drive-in screenings of two “Ghost Stories of El Paso” shows on Halloween weekend at Ascarate Park.

Health and safety protocols will be followed for the screenings of “Ghost Stories of El Paso Volume Two” and “Ghost Stories of El Paso Volume Four. Producer Jackson Polk will introduce each program

The films will be shown on October 30 and November 1 on Ascarate Park blow-up movie screen, with sound provided by loudspeakers. The first film will be shown at 6:30 p.m., followed by a short intermission, and the second program will start at about 7:45 p.m.

The Halloween night screening time on October 31 will be 7:30pm. The two programs, each running about an hour, will be shown at no charge, however there is a $2 charge per car to enter the park.

Officials say the programs are suitable for viewers of all ages.

“Ghost Stories of El Paso” programs feature psychic Diana Calamia, also known as LadyD, touring sites in El Paso County in search of ghostly spirits. She communicates with the spirits she encounters, and relates their stories while being recorded on video and still cameras.

In “Ghost Stories of El Paso Volume Two,” LadyD talks with spirits in San Elizario,  Monteleone’s Restaurant, a haunted building on Fort Bliss, and a mine shaft in the Franklin Mountains.

In “Ghost Stories of El Paso Volume Four,” LadyD tours the haunted buildings at the old Asarco smelter before they were demolished.

El Paso County will provide parking for up to 100 cars at its drive-in movie area inside Ascarate Park. No socializing will be allowed, and guests must stay in their cars. Restrooms will be open.

Guests are invited to bring their own snacks and drinks. No food service will be available due to the pandemic.

Officials add that DVDs of the two “Ghost Stories of El Paso” programs will be available for purchase at the screenings.  The programs are produced by Jackson Polk of Capstone Productions Incorporated
