Go10, Connect10, TxDot projects, detours for Week of June 9

Here’s a look at the various project closures for the week and weeks ahead. These include several 27-hour closures in June.

Motorists traveling between the East and West El Paso should plan to use Loop 375 (Transmountain Road) this weekend due to several complete closures on Interstate 10, two of which are related to the I-10 Connect project.

For local traffic which cannot avoid travel in the area, marked detours will be in place.

27-Hour Closure of Westbound I-10

3am on Sunday, June 9, through 6am on Monday, June 10

  • Westbound Interstate 10 will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
  • Ramp L which connects Gateway Boulevard West to westbound I-10 west of Raynolds Street will be closed to all traffic.
  • Ramp C which connects northbound US 54 to westbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic
  • DETOUR: Westbound traffic on I-10 will take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss), travel northbound on US 54, take Exit 23 (Fort Bliss/Cassidy Road), and then take Exit 22B (Pershing Drive) to Gateway Boulevard North. Traffic will then use the newly-widened turnaround at Pershing Drive to access Gateway Boulevard South, then enter southbound US 54 and continue straight ahead to re-enter westbound I-10.

Crews will begin work on a drilled shaft in the median of I-10.

  • NOTE: At this time, westbound I-10 is also scheduled to be closed to all traffic between Schuster Avenue and Sunland Park Drive in West El Paso as part of the Mesa Park Interchange project.

Overnight Closure of Eastbound I-10

Sunday, June 9, 9pm to 5am

  • Eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
  • The on-ramp which connects Gateway Boulevard East to eastbound I-10 east of Loop 478 (Copia Street) will be closed to all traffic.
  • DETOUR: Eastbound traffic on I-10 will take Exit 22A (Loop 478/Copia Street), continue east on Gateway Boulevard East, and re-enter I-10 east of Raynolds Street.
  • NOTE: Traffic bound for northbound US 54 or Juárez will follow the above detour and continue on Gateway Boulevard East and u-turn at US 62/180 (Paisano Drive), enter westbound I-10 and take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Fort Bliss/Juárez). All traffic will continue north on US 54 using the Pershing Drive turnaround to access southbound US 54 or Juárez. Northbound US 54 traffic will continue on Gateway North.

Monday, June 10, and Tuesday, June 11

9pm to 5am

  • Northbound US 54 will be closed to all traffic from the Altura Avenue overpass to Fred Wilson Avenue.
  • Ramp C which connects northbound US 54 to westbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic.
  • NORTHBOUND US 54 DETOUR: Northbound traffic on US 54 will take exit take Exit 23 (Fort Bliss/Cassidy Road) to Gateway Boulevard North and continue through the traffic light at Fred Wilson Avenue before re-entering northbound US 54.
  • RAMP C DETOUR: Remain on northbound US 54, take Exit 23 (Fort Bliss/Cassidy Road), and then take Exit 22 (Pershing Drive) to Gateway Boulevard North. Traffic will then use the newly-widened turnaround at Pershing Drive to access Gateway Boulevard South then enter southbound US 54 and continue straight ahead to enter westbound I-10.

Tuesday, June 11, and Wednesday, June 12

9pm to 5am

  • Southbound US 54 will be closed to all traffic from the Cassidy Road overpass to the Pershing Drive underpass.
  • DETOURS: All traffic on southbound US 54 must take Exit 22 (Pershing Drive/Fort Bliss), then take the Pershing Drive/Altura Avenue exit, continue on Gateway Boulevard South, and re-enter US 54 north of Pershing Drive. All traffic bound from westbound Spur 601 to US 54 will go northbound on US 54; traffic seeking to head south will take Exit 25 (Ellerthorpe Avenue) and u-turn.

Crews will be placing concrete barriers.

The Following Long-Term Closures Will Remain In Place During the Week of June 9:

  • Ramp E which connects Gateway Boulevard South to southbound US 54 south of Yandell Drive will be closed to all traffic.
  • The on-ramp from Gateway Boulevard North to I-110 near the El Paso Zoo will be closed to all traffic each weekday.
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard East from Piedras Street to US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard West from Boone Street to Palm Street.
  • Ramp T which connects Gateway Boulevard North to northbound US 54 north of US 62 (Paisano Drive) remains closed until further notice.
  • Both turnarounds between Gateway Boulevard North and Gateway Boulevard South under US 54 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) remain closed until further notice.
  • Turnaround from Gateway Boulevard East to Gateway Boulevard West under I-10 at Trowbridge Drive remains closed until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on eastbound and westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) at US 54 until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on Ramp D which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 until further notice.
  • Intermittent lane closures on Gateway Boulevard South between Findley Avenue and US 62 (Paisano Drive).

All closures are subject to change due to weather or field conditions. On ramps and off ramps may close up to an hour before stated times.

GO10

I-10 East at Redd

Sunday, June 9 (27-hour closure)
3 a.m. to 6 a.m. the next day

  • I-10 East will close completely between Redd Road and Executive Center Boulevard. Detour: Motorists on I-10 East will exit at Redd Road (exit 9), follow South Desert Blvd to North Mesa Street (SH 20), follow North Mesa Street (SH 20) to Executive Center. Re-enter I-10 East using the Executive Center entrance ramp.
  • The North Mesa entrance ramp to I-10 East will close.
  • The eastbound collector-distributor (CD) lanes will close completely at North Mesa Street (SH 20).
  • Paisano Drive (US 85) – in front of the auto dealerships – will close completely starting at Sunland Park Drive.
  • Crockett Street access to Paisano Drive (US 85) will close.
  • Both turnaround bridges at Sunland Park Drive will close.
  • The westbound-to-eastbound turnaround bridge at North Mesa Street will close.
  • The Sunland Park flyover ramp and the Resler flyover ramp will close.
  • Crews will continue to stripe pavement and remove barrier.

I-10 West at Sunland

Monday, June 10, and Tuesday, June 11
9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each following morning

  • I-10 West will close completely between the Sunland Park exit ramp and the Sunland Park entrance ramp. Detour: Motorists will exit at Sunland Park (exit 13) and follow the CD lanes to re-enter I-10 West at the next ramp.
  • Crews will be constructing permanent concrete barrier.

I-10 East at Sunland

Wednesday, June 12, and Thursday, June 13
9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each following morning

  • I-10 East will close completely at the Sunland Park exit ramp. Detour: Motorists will exit at Sunland Park (exit 13) and follow the CD lanes to re-enter I-10 East.
  • Crews will be constructing permanent concrete barrier.

I-10 Both Directions

Sunday, June 16 (27-hour closure)
3 a.m. to 6 a.m. the next day

  • I-10 East will close completely between North Mesa Street (SH 20) and Sunland Park Drive. Detour: Motorists traveling on I-10 East will be detoured onto the eastbound CD lanes, bypassing all signalized intersections.
  • I-10 West will close completely between Executive Center Boulevard and Redd Road. Detour: Motorists traveling on I-10 West will exit at Executive Center (exit 16), follow Executive Center Blvd to North Mesa Street (SH 20), then follow the detour signs along North Mesa Street (SH 20). Motorists may re-enter I-10 West using the Redd Road entrance ramp.
  • The westbound CD lanes will be closed starting at Sunland Park.
  • All Sunland Park entrance ramps to I-10 West will be closed.
  • Both westbound US 85 overpasses, which lead to the Sunland Park area, will close.
  • The eastbound-to-westbound turnaround bridge at the Sunland Park Drive overpass will close.
  • The Schuster/UTEP entrance ramp to I-10 West will close.
  • The North Mesa entrance ramp to I-10 East will close.
  • Crews will be removing barrier and striping I-10 pavement to final configuration, among other activities.
  • All closures are subject to change or cancellation.
  • All closure times are approximate.
  • Exit and entrance ramps may close up to one hour prior to the start time of an I-10 closure.

Mesa Park Interchange Project 

Sunday, June 9 to Monday, June 10
3 a.m. to 6 a.m. (27 hour closure)

  • Complete freeway closure from Schuster exit to Sunland Park
  • Traffic detour through Mesa
  • Traffic lanes will be switched affecting the Executive exit westbound

27-Hour Closure of Westbound I-10
3 a.m. on Sunday, June 9, through 6 a.m. on Monday, June 10

  • Westbound Interstate 10 will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
  • Ramp L, which connects Gateway Boulevard West to westbound I-10 west of Raynolds Street, will be closed to all traffic.
  • Ramp C, which connects northbound US 54 to westbound I-10, will be closed to all traffic.

  • Eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed to all traffic at US 54.

9 pm each night to 6 am each following morning

 

·   I-10 East will close completely at the Sunland Park exit ramp. Detour: Motorists will exit at Sunland Park (exit 13) and follow the CD lanes to re-enter I-10 East.
