Grammy-Winning Singer, Guitarist Jack White to Perform ‘Phone-Free’ Show at Coliseum

On Monday, promoters announced that twelve-time Grammy Award-winning alternative rock singer, guitarist and producer Jack White will be performing at the El Paso County Coliseum on September 19th.

White’s concert will be a phone-free show. Fans’ phones and other photo or video-capturing equipment and gizmos, including watches, won’t be taken away, but instead will be secured in a “locked” Yondr pouch, which fans keep with them, but can only be unlocked in designated areas.

An official tour photographer will capture the concert for fans, who are invited to share photos and videos that will be posted on online and @officialjackwhitelive on Instagram.

“I want people to live in the moment,” White said in a recent interview. “If your phone is that important to you that you can’t live without it for two hours then I don’t know.”

White hit the music scene with the White Stripes in 1997, but it was in 2003 when the duo’s release “Elephant” hit No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and earned a Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year and a win for Best Alternative Music Album, as well as a win for Best Rock Song for the mega-hit “Seven Nation Army.”

White, nominated 33 times, won 12 Grammys for his work with the White Stripes, Raconteurs and as a solo artist. His win total also includes two awards for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package for his art direction on the “The Rise & Fall Of Paramount Records.”

He won his first Grammy as a producer in 2004 for Loretta Lynn’s Best Country Album-winning “Van Lear Rose.” In 2017, White was honored with the Grammys’ President’s Merit Award for his support for the art and craft of recorded music. His latest release, “Boarding House Reach,” reached the top of Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart.

White founded the independent record label Third Man Records in 2001.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 22, at the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online. A special presale will get underway Thursday, June 21.
