After a call to artists resulted in an avalanche of art in various media, Green Hope Project along with Black El Paso Voice will bring the artists and their work to the entire community, via an awards ceremony this weekend.
Green Hope Project officials were impressed with the quality and volume of entries for Racial Harmony and wanted to ensure the participating artists would get the recognition they deserved. To that end, Racial Harmony’s awards ceremony will take place via live online streaming and submitted artwork will be showcased in a virtual gallery on Green Hope Project’s website on January 30th, beginning at 5 p.m. MST.
“At Green Hope Project, we value the arts, education, and our environment. This mission inevitably includes the value of human life and the expectation to live in a safe and accepting world,” organizers shared.
Texas House Representative Mary Gonzalez and Racial Justice Advocate Sandra Reid, will have opening remarks to kick off the ceremony.
Candace Printz, President of Green Hope Project, will then present the contest winners with over $2000 worth of cash prizes and showcase their artwork.
Organizers will also announce the Mural Choice Award winners, and have these pieces turned into murals throughout the city. The Racial Harmony exhibition will be on display starting January 30th, 5pm MT on www.greenhopeproject.org.
“We believe that during these times, love and tolerance needs to be practiced more. What a wonderful thing to show our young people, and all in the community, how beautiful that can look through the arts.” Printz said. “With a collective understanding that compassion is key to a thriving society, we challenge everyone that witnesses this show to practice love and kindness towards your fellow men and women, regardless of their skin color or ethnicity.”
Green Hope Project is proud of the partnership with Black El Paso Voice to bring you this very important event. We know that there is power in art and action, so we decided to collaborate to spread this positive message. Without our wonderful sponsors and partners, this event would not have been possible in any format.
Green Hope Project wants to thank Sir Realistic Productions, and ZoOM Design for their support with the Racial Harmony art contest.
