HACEP Officially Unveils Rebuilt Sherman Plaza

The Housing Authority of the City of El Paso, Texas (HACEP) officially unveiled Sherman Plaza, their $24 Million affordable housing community reconstructed as part of the agency’s larger $1.3 Billion RAD initiative.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Friday, May 11, with representatives from Sundt Construction, the official contractor for the redevelopment, along with Food City Supermarkets – long-time community partner with HACEP – in attendance.

The reconstruction of HACEP’s Sherman Plaza culminated into a $24 million investment in one of El Paso’s oldest neighborhoods was recently designated LEED-certified equipped with Energy-Star appliances, energy-efficient qualities, and central heating and cooling systems.

The event also featured Texas State Senator José Rodríguez, Texas State Representative Cesár Blanco, El Paso County Commissioner David Stout and El Paso City Representative Cissy Lizarraga.
